We are a Tasmanian family-owned and operated organisation with extensive experience in providing high-quality education and care programs for children from birth to twelve years of age, across Tasmania. About the Role We are seeking a Permanent Full Time Early Childhood Director for our well-established, Early Learning Centre in Woodland Grove, Newnham.
Bungawitta Early Learning Centre was purpose-built to provide an innovative and dynamic learning environment. The service caters for children aged birth to 5, across 3 developmentally and age-appropriate rooms.
Bungawitta promotes nature play through an extensive natural outdoor environment. The yard is designed to allow children to take risks, jump off rocks, roll down grassy hills, climb trees, build with sticks and play without restrictions.
The 47-place service is well established within the community. The service has strong family connections and a dedicated team of long-term educators.
We are looking for an experienced and professional individual or emerging leader to lead the team in delivering quality early education and care programs.
This individual will be given the unique opportunity to lead the development of the new building works that are about to take place, redesigning environments, and the modernisation of the building - maintaining rich connections with the history of the service, whilst ensuring it meets the needs of children and the community today.
The Director will be responsible for nurturing a positive and lively culture of collaboration and innovation, while ensuring a focus on quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
The name 'Bungawitta' is an Aboriginal word meaning 'home of the possum', this namesake connects the service with the tradition owners and custodians of the Land, helping to encourage a community rich in culture, history and diversity.
Bungawitta exceeded all 7 quality areas in their recent Assessment and Rating.
Applicants must have: A minimum Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent) Current employment class, Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration Regular availability and flexibility to work a range of shifts during our opening hours Discovery is a Child Safe Organisation and is committed to an organisation-wide culture of child safety as well as a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. We require all applicants to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment.
Demonstrated leadership experience in early childhood education and care, a strong understanding of the approved Learning Frameworks and National Quality Standards, maturity and a desire to provide opportunities for all children to learn and thrive are a must.
A generous remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Selection Criteria Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework (NQS), the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Framework for School Aged Care (MTOP). Demonstrated commitment to professional learning, development and reflective practice to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. Demonstrated early childhood education and care practices that are guided by the service Philosophy, Code of Ethics, policies and procedures. The ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team, ensuring collaboration, effective and respectful communication and trusting relationships. Proven experience or capacity to perform in leadership roles in early education and care settings, with a high level of effective communication, organisational and time management skills and initiative to manage competing priorities and complex scenarios.
