About the Role The Director, Built Environment & Sustainability is a key leadership position within RMIT's College of Vocational Education (CoVE).
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and drive the strategic direction of the industry cluster, leveraging RMIT's leading edge teaching and learning facilities to provide exceptional learning outcomes for students.
As the Director, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, innovative, and industry-relevant vocational programs.
You will lead teams through significant cultural changes, modernize business processes, and build on RMIT's robust industry connections.
Your leadership will be critical in ensuring that RMIT remains at the forefront of vocational education, empowering learners and equipping them for the future of work.
To be considered for this role, leading the Built Environment and Sustainability cluster you must be able to demonstrate: Demonstrated educational leadership experience in leading vocational education program teams, including apprenticeships, traineeships, up to advanced diplomas.
Strong industry experience aligned to the cluster including deep experience working with professional trades across building and construction, electrical, refrigeration and instrument, plumbing and carpentry, surveying, and building design.
Proven people leadership experience at scale with a track record of building a high performing culture that supports student-centric delivery and continuous improvement.
Extensive experience in strategic and tactical leadership within a complex and dynamic environment.
High-level interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to consult with senior executives and external bodies.
Strong understanding of budget management, quality maintenance, and good governance within an educational context.
Proven leadership and influencing skills, with the capacity to initiate and manage projects and organizational change programs.
Qualifications: Relevant qualifications and proven expertise in the leadership of large-scale operational teams in a commercial or educational environment, with relevant industry experience.
