Director Aboriginal Tourism
Tourism WA is a State Government statutory authority and part of the broader economic development portfolio of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI). Tourism WA is responsible for promoting Western Australia as an extraordinary holiday destination. Its focus is on marketing the State; developing, attracting and promoting major sporting, cultural and business events; and supporting the development of significant tourism infrastructure and projects, including the development and attraction of aviation to Perth and across the State's regions.
What is the role?
The role of Director Aboriginal Tourism is permanent and full time. In this role you will be responsible for the team implementing the Government's Jina: Western Australian Aboriginal Tourism Action Plan (Jina Plan) with the objective of positioning WA as a premier destination of Aboriginal tourism experiences - through building the capacity of the sector to deliver quality experiences and by encouraging more Aboriginal people to participate in the tourism and hospitality sector.
You will oversee the department's partnership agreement with the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC) while also informing Aboriginal inclusion and engagement within the broader tourism industry and driving the development of the next Aboriginal Tourism Action Plan. As a member of the Destination Development Management team, you will also work collaboratively with fellow Directors to set divisional operational priorities and monitor performance against targets.
