Director, Aboriginal Economic Development Are you a strategic problem solver with a strong focus on enhancing Aboriginal economic outcomes?Contribute to initiatives that promise significant and lasting benefits for Aboriginal Victorians and Traditional OwnersSenior Executive Service Level 1 (SES-1), Fixed Term until 30 June 2029This is a prioritised position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with the Special Measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given priority consideration for this role. The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) is in search of a Director for Aboriginal Economic Development to join our team. This role, reporting to the Associate Deputy Secretary for Aboriginal Economic Development, is pivotal in overseeing the execution of the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy, as well as managing essential areas such as employment, recruitment, career advancement, economic expansion, and initiatives supporting small businesses within the Aboriginal Economic Development branch. Prioritising innovation in programs, strategic thinking, project management, and a comprehensive understanding of economics, this position actively cultivates strong partnerships with both industry entities and Aboriginal stakeholders across the state.
This position will play a crucial role in shaping the Department's engagement strategy with Aboriginal communities, ensuring meaningful and impactful interactions, by working with the Yuma Yirramboi Council's Koori Caucus to progress Aboriginal led and identified priority actions.
This dynamic and multifaceted role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive team and leadership environment.
