Our Federal Government is seeking an experienced cloud engineer/developer to join their team in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth . This is a 12-month non-ongoing fixed-term contract.
As a Cloud Developer/Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing various systems and third-party software packages while actively contributing to development tasks across multiple technologies.
Your responsibilities will span from integrating external systems, developing new systems and features, to troubleshooting production issues. You will work in partnership with external stakeholders and suppliers, as well as collaborate with other Technical Teams to ensure the security, performance, and maintainability of these critical applications.
To be successful in this role you must:
Work closely with the project teams to transition delivery for new systems into Operations. Utilise your research and analysis skills to identify trends and prepare project briefs to support informed decision-making and planning. Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate business application solutions and improvements to best meet functional and non-functional needs. Apply best practices for the associated application's technology stack, surrounding architecture, and divisional application delivery practices. Assist the team lead in the development of strategy and roadmaps for the solution. Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to understand business needs. Actively monitor and respond to production incidents and problems, applying IT service management best practices as per the division's policies. Liaise with partners and vendors to resolve critical issues, as well as use their expertise to make informed design and implementation decisions. Support other team members in their work and provide technical coaching and mentoring. Seek opportunities to improve operational health for the solutions, in areas such as availability, performance, security, and efficiency. Contribute to team health by actively participating in all agreed team ceremonies and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the team context. To be considered for this role you must:
Be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain a Baseline. Have software engineering and/or enterprise application integration skills and experience, including relevant ICT qualifications. Demonstrate client liaison, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. Have the ability to work independently with minimal direction and as an effective member of a team. Be able to analyse requirements, build new functionality, and provide robust design solutions. Show a demonstrated passion for developing quality code and an eye for detail. Have the ability to analyse and resolve complex business and system-related problems. Have experience developing in AWS or similar cloud services. Be proficient in Python. Have experience with CDK and Typescript. Be knowledgeable in SQL and PL/SQL. Have experience with Postgres or Aurora Databases. Possess CI/CD experience with GitLab or similar.
