This could be your next big adventure!ABOUT THE POSITION:The purpose of this position is to lead the development and implementation of digital preservation standards, workflows, and industry-standard processes and associated needs for Museums Victoria.Some of the key duties include:Working with relevant disciplines, lead the development of workflows across existing and emerging formats for the digital preservation of the Museum's digital collections (both digitised and born-digital).Confirm metadata requirements by format at each stage of the Museum's digital preservation workflows and confirm the preservation of information packages throughout the digital preservation lifecycle.Analyse metadata using OAIS or other international standards to ensure metadata and information packages are preserved with the digital asset throughout the digital preservation process.Identify and establish the hardware, software needs and associated ingestion and quality assessment processes for the Museum's forensic data workstation.Provide specialist digital preservation advice and information to internal stakeholders and assist in their learning and skill development related to digital preservation.The successful applicant will have:Specialist knowledge of and considerable experience in applying contemporary digital preservation frameworks and practices in major collecting and cultural institutions.Specialist knowledge and considerable experience in applying metadata schemas and workflows for traditional and/or complex digital formats across the full digital asset lifecycle, and in the use Digital Preservation and/or Digital Asset Management systems.Experience in establishing the technical requirements and workflows/processes for a forensic data workstation for digital ingestion.Experience working collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams in a technology-driven environment where there is constant change, requirements for adaptation and new workflows and delivery to described standards.Experience in interpretation and preparation of technical documentation.OTHER INFORMATION:This is a full time, fixed term (24 weeks).
