The RoleWe are seeking a Digital Media Production Manager to lead a small team responsible for producing high-quality audio-visual content that supports the department's objectives, including National Defence Strategy (NDS) priorities. In this role, you will manage photography, videography, and animation projects for internal and external audiences, working collaboratively with stakeholders, including ministers and senior leaders, to ensure content is fit for purpose.You will oversee the management and maintenance of audio-visual equipment, digital media libraries, content management systems and communication channels, ensuring accessibility and quality standards are consistently met. The role requires strong strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering projects on time while building positive client relationships. You will also analyse audience engagement trends to drive continual improvement and ensure content aligns with strategic goals, providing expert advice on digital media solutions to a range of stakeholders.
About our TeamThe Defence Digital Media (DDM) team provides critical imagery support aligned with Defence Australia's mission to inform, engage, and enhance the nation's defence through transparent and effective communication. The team's primary function is to deliver high-quality imagery for internal communication, public affairs, and media. DDM coordinates imagery collation for major operations and events like Exercise Talisman Sabre and Anzac Day, while also managing the Defence Image Gallery and Defence YouTube channel.They ensure all imagery meets strict technical and metadata standards and oversee the distribution of cleared imagery to Defence leadership, ministerial offices, and media outlets. Additionally, the team provides technical guidance to Defence camera teams, manages copyright for external requests, and leads the national Digital Signage Pilot.
Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate is a highly skilled and strategic digital media professional with a proven track record in creating compelling audio-visual content that drives engagement and supports organisational priorities. They will have strong leadership capabilities, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in fast-paced environments.The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise in photography, videography, animation, and editing, as well as proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud. Demonstrate exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, working effectively with ministers, senior leaders, and diverse teams to align content with strategic priorities, including the National Defence Strategy (NDS). Organised, adaptable, and solutions-focused, they will thrive under tight deadlines while ensuring accessibility, quality standards, and client satisfaction are consistently met. With a client-centric mindset, they will excel in fostering positive relationships and driving continual improvement through data analysis and reporting.
