About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team in the digital-first Australian Capital Territory newsroom and play a key role in driving innovative content on all digital platforms. Reporting to the Deputy News Editor Canberra, you will: Lead the implementation of ABC News' digital strategy in Australian Capital Territory. Commission and create compelling mobile-first digital journalism that is timely, accurate, impartial, impactful, and relevant. Identify story opportunities and lead the delivery of news and information (including breaking news) to audiences on digital platforms as well as broadcast. Manage, lead and mentor a team of digital and social media producers and provide direction to staff to achieve high standards of journalistic and production craft. Sub-edit digital content produced from the Canberra newsroom, ensuring it is delivered in line with ABC News' digital strategy and in line with the ABC's editorial policies. About You We are looking for a dynamic and creative leader with superior knowledge of digital news production, including producing and commissioning visual journalism, social video, graphics and interactive features, mobile-first newsgathering, and hands-on experience with content management systems. You'll be able to demonstrate: Proven success in inspiring, developing and guiding team members Excellent knowledge of news production in a multi-platform environment, including producing and commissioning journalism for digital and broadcast platforms as well as methods of content distribution and engagement Ability to build strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Exceptional knowledge of the workings of government, society and business, particularly in the Australian Capital Territory.
