Great opportunity for a dietitian with bariatric surgery expertise to work as a specialist Dietitian at Austin Health. Permanent, part time, 30 hours/week (0.8EFT). Hours and roster negotiable but must include availability to work Friday.New position that is available anytime from the start of December 2024.Work allocation: Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.Primary location is Austin Campus but includes regular travel offsite to outpatient clinic(s) at Repat Campus.Pay range as per AK1 to AK4 classification, $53.84 to $62.71 per hour + salary packaging + super + higher qualification allowance if applicable.About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department Our department has 50 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs. We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education.
About the role This position will work as part of our Surgical stream, which includes a designated Senior Clinician. Primary work areas for this position will include bariatric surgery predominantly in the ambulatory setting.
The Grade 3 dietitian will provide specialist dietetic service for patients before and after their bariatric surgery procedure, including both group education sessions and individual consultations.
The dietitian will work closely with the Upper GI Surgery team to ensure the service is best practice, safe and meets the needs of this patient group.
The role will also involve leadership and supervision of other clinicians (dietitians and nutrition allied health assistants) working in this area.
About you Have a passion for working with patients with obesity, and specifically those undergoing treatment via surgical intervention.At least 7 years of relevant clinical experience, including expertise in management of patients undergoing bariatric surgery.High level interpersonal skills which promote team collaboration and engagement.Demonstrated leadership skills including ability to supervise staff and to assess clinical service outcomes against established KPIs.Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
