Job DescriptionAbout the Position: An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified tradesperson to join the Shire of Broome in the role of Diesel Mechanic.
The successful applicant will work as a team with the Shire's other mechanic, responsible for:
The maintenance of the Shire's plant, vehicles and machinery to a high standard in a safe, reliable and serviceable condition with a minimum of downtime.Working in the most efficient manner as part of the depot team.Ensuring Council's policies and procedures are adhered to, providing the best possible service to Council and ratepayers.Light vehicle mechanical trade qualifications as a minimum, with heavy diesel qualifications highly desirable (remunerated accordingly).Hands-on experience in all aspects of small to large plant operation, maintenance, and repairs.Demonstrated ability to assess mechanical problems, diagnose, and carry out correct repairs for small and large plant equipment associated with a large multi-purpose plant fleet.Ability to work as part of a team.Ability to work to a schedule.Good physical fitness to perform in an outdoor environment.Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.Ability to gain cooperation of staff, communicate effectively with them, and identify problems.Ability to work with limited supervision and to provide leadership where necessary.Don't meet every single requirement?
