Lots of training and fantastic career progression opportunities Job security with an established business Strong sense of community and mateship within the team About the Position We are currently seeking applications for a  experienced Diesel Mechanics  or Light Vehicle Motor Mechanics  to join our Mobile teams located in the Herbert region, Burdekin Region, Proserpine and Mackay region.  This is a full-time permanent position, and the successful applicants will be responsible for safely and effectively providing maintenance of locomotive fleet and mobile plant to maximise locomotive and plant availability.  Motor mechanics who have had previous experience with diesel engines should apply and in house training will be provided to suitable applicants if they are successful. The salary offered will be commensurate with individual skills and experience. The indicative salary range is between $70,000 (TL10) and $77,000 (TL08) annually for day work (during the maintenance season) and moves to shift work with shift penalties in the Production Season.  Penalties are paid on any time done over 38 hours! Main duties include but are not limited to: Servicing and tuning of engines and the diagnosis/maintenance/repair of locomotive systems (transmissions, drives lubrication, fuel, braking, induction/exhaust and suspension) MTU series 200/60 diesel engines, Mercedes 906,926, 502 diesel engines repairs and servicing Allisson 3000 and 4000 automatic transmission repairs and servicing, repairs and servicing of Renk Magg drive units Constructing and commissioning of capital-built locos and brake vans Repairs and servicing on various mobile plant, Franna cranes, forklifts, trucks, loaders, bobcats, tractors etc. Assisting in the identification and scoping of work required for the maintenance of locos and mobile plant Troubleshooting and fault reporting of equipment during breakdowns Contributing to the quality control techniques and continuous improvement of work methods Ensuring work orders and related permits are completed to a standard Maintaining safe work practices Providing trade guidance to fellow team members including apprentices Additional benefits for working with Wilmar Sugar include: Supported career progression whether it is down the technical stream or onwards to leadership (internships, cadetships, internal courses, and university education) Employees who live in our Mill/Farm/Distillery Regions in Queensland may be eligible to claim Remote Area tax benefits via MAXXIA. Previous Heavy Industrial work history highly regarded Other Desirable Skills - but if you don't have them, we will train you over time!
