The mine site The site is located 160 km from Darwin City and is focused on rehabilitation, meaning the work will be on surface operation machinery.
The role The role is DIDO from Darwin, on a 7:7 roster working within a small team to support the ongoing maintenance of Plant and Equipment in a currently nonproducing Mine site.
The incumbent will be required to inspect, repair and maintain a small fleet of heavy equipment, light vehicle fleet, dewatering equipment including pumps, valves and generators.
In addition, there is occasional building maintenance and fixed plant maintenance.
This position is an opportunity to learn new skills and work outside the normal constraints of a traditional workshop position.
Being a small team, the successful candidate will be a self-motivated conscientious team member that works equally well in team environments as they do working on their own.
The right candidate will preferably have experience working on Komatsu, Hitachi, Cat mobile equipment and be comfortable working with light vehicles.
Key role objectives: Conduct scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs on all equipment to minimize equipment downtime and ensure maximum availability.Conduct basic welding tasks as required.Participate in planned and unplanned shutdown maintenance campaigns.Measure and record relevant maintenance and safety data, including downtime reports, ongoing revision of critical spares list, service reports, JHA, Take 5s, and daily reporting.Repairs and maintenance of fixed and submersible pumps and respective piping systems.Operate mobile equipment such as but not limited to forklifts, IT Loaders, Dozers, Excavators, Haul trucks, Graders, and backhoe as required but only when appropriately experienced and licensed to do so.Ensure all mechanical installations, upgrades or changes to existing equipment meet the requirements of the relevant Australian standard or other relevant standards.Ensure that all safety procedures are adhered to and continuously contribute to keeping a safe hazard-free work environment (neat and tidy).Participate in risk assessments and risk management processes.Update, complete and create Work Orders, order parts and assist with reporting of defects in the computer-based work order management system.The successful candidate should possess the following: Minimum Certificate III in a Mechanical Trade (Light Vehicle, Diesel Mechanic, Diesel fitter or Heavy road transport).Proven ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical (12v and 24v) systems and equipment.Experience with MMA and MIG welding processes would be advantageous.High Risk Work licence for CN, WAH, LF or EWP would be advantageous.Site accommodation and meals provided.
