About the role The Motor Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep, testing, and repair of petrol engines and mechanical systems in lightweight vehicles, including components like transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking systems.
Key responsibilities & duties Carry out scheduled and preventive maintenance for vehicles and machinery to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to gather information, assess issues, and determine effective solutions. Assemble and install mechanical parts and systems in accordance with technical specifications and standards. Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic evaluations of vehicles and equipment to identify malfunctions or performance issues. Develop and implement detailed action plans for maintenance, repair tasks, and upgrades as needed. Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and service logs to maintain accurate records. Manage parts inventory effectively and place orders for replacement or additional parts as required. Provide guidance and expert advice on routine maintenance practices and preventive measures to vehicle operators and team members. Perform comprehensive vehicle assessments and communicate any findings that could affect the vehicle's compliance with inspection regulations or safety standards. Additional duties as required from time to time. Work experience and essential skills criteria Formal qualifications in Automotive Mechanics (e.g., Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology). Sound mechanical knowledge. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a qualified Motor Mechanic. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Responsible and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
