The Role As the DevOps and Infrastructure Lead you will own the technical aspects of DevOps within the Azure and AWS ecosystems with Financial Operations (FinOps) to manage and optimise DHP's cloud infrastructure performance and costs.
You will provide governance, thought leadership and standardisation across our Azure and AWS environments, automating processes and implementing strategies to ensure efficient resource usage and cost optimisation.
Your role responsibilities will include:
CI/CD Pipeline ImplementationDesign, build & maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops & AWS or similar tools like Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket targeting Azure & AWS as hosting platformsAutomate testing, integration & deployment processes using tools such as Azure PipelinesInfrastructure AutomationImplement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep (Azure) and Cloudformation (AWS)Automate & manage Azure & AWS services e.g. AD, VMs, AKS, App Services, Lambda, Cloudfront, WAF, App Gateway, APIM for scalability & reliabilityCloud Infrastructure ManagementDeploy & monitor AWS & Azure services to meet high availability & disaster recovery requirementsImplement Azure Monitor, Log Analytics & Application Insights for monitoring, alerting & troubleshooting e.g. Data DogSecurity & ComplianceEnsure Azure & AWS infrastructure follows best practices for security, compliance & governanceManage role-based access control (RBAC) and IAM in AWS, network security & encryption strategiesCollaborate with Digital & Development TeamsWork closely with developers to integrate DevOps practices & ensure seamless release cyclesFacilitate a DevOps culture by encouraging automation, lean thinking, measurement, continuous delivery, recovery & feedback loopsAzure & AWS Cost ManagementIdentify & establish owners for cloud products & facilitate a service owner forumMonitor & manage cloud costs using tools like Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor & Azure Pricing CalculatorProvide insights & reporting on Azure & AWS spending trends & cost optimisation opportunitiesCost OptimisationIdentify & implement cost-saving measures, including resource rightsizing, reserved instances, spot VMs, and scaling policiesCollaborate with teams to design & deploy cost-efficient solutions without compromising performance.Budgeting & ForecastingDevelop cloud budgets & forecasts in collaboration with the finance team, ensuring alignment with business goalsMonitor & analyse spending variances to ensure adherence to budget and identify areas for further cost optimisationFinOps AutomationDevelop automated scripts or use tools to track and report Azure costs, budgets, and alerts for potential overspendingImplement policies and governance to avoid budget overruns and ensure adherence to cloud financial strategiesVendor Relationship ManagementLiaise with Microsoft Azure and AWS account managers to negotiate pricing, secure discounts, and leverage cloud credits.Mentor and Coach IT Infrastructure TeamCoach DHP's corporate IT infrastructure engineersDevelop the team's skills in DevOps & cloud cost managementYour Experience Tertiary Qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field, combined with ITIL 4 certification and extensive experience in DevOps, particularly Azure and AWS.
You will understand DevOps methodologies and CI/CD for network automation. You will have lean agile thinking and practices and disaster planning and business continuity for network systems experience. You will have prepared quality written documentation and have extensive experience in architecting and leading DevOps implementations.
