This DevOps Engineer role involves working for one of the largest banks in Australia and exists to design and develop software solutions, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and processes. The role has strong potential of career growth based on performance.
This position sits within the Business Lending domain which delivers customer servicing and originations technology solutions for the bank's business customer portfolio via both online and staff facing channels.
The technologies used are predominantly Java, JavaScript using REST/Web services to integrate with the banks enterprise services layer, databases, and host systems. Software development practices within the team are aligning to agile methodologies.
This role will move you into an innovative and growing engineering team where you will be working on a range of business and customer critical projects.
Main roles and responsibilities are:
Develop, Review, and implement CI/CD principles including containerisation using Docker Implement DevSecOps tools' standards and common ways of working and 'Best Practices'. Build and maintain all Non-Production and Production Environments Work closely with Development and QA teams to ensure that applications are developed and deployed efficiently. Support Continuous automation to enable seamless deployments and monitoring of software applications. Bitbucket repository creation and implement the Branching strategy for the program. Develop, scale, and control strategies, standards, quality gates, guidelines, and governance of Continuous Integration systems. Configure and maintain various servers, databases, and networks to ensure infrastructure is always up and running and any issues are resolved quickly. Maintain DevOps Maturity Plan, Standardised Process across squads. Setting up and maintaining, monitoring, and logging solutions to ensure system reliability and performance (Splunk, AppDynamics) What's in it for me? What do I need? You will be experienced and have a deep understanding of CI/CD pipeline. You will be a problem solver and someone that is continually looking to upskill and develop.
To be considered for this role you need the following skills/experience:
Mandatory: We are looking for candidates who can identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the CI/CD pipeline and proactively implement improvements. The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to automate repetitive tasks and a proven track record of developing automation scripts or tools to streamline operations. Ability to collaborate effectively with development, operations, and QA teams to drive DevOps initiatives and promote a culture of shared responsibility. Candidates should possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate complex problems and devise effective solutions. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to manage and provision infrastructure resources. Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Experience in optimizing CI/CD pipelines and SaaS tools for speed, efficiency, reliability, and familiarity with tools like SonarQube, JFrog, Fortify Scan, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab CI, Bamboo, Azure, or AWS Experience with Java, JavaScript, Python or Perl programming, Shell scripting. Ability to work independently or within a team framework. Strong time management, workload management and organisational skills Desired: Have experience working in Agile and be able to advocate Agile ways of working across the various IT teams.
