Modelling open decision making, we provide a supportive and collaborative environment where employees feel engaged and connected to the work of the organisation, to each other, and the community.The Role: Development Officer – GrowthIn this role you will be responsible for the provision of proficient planning advice and assessment, assisting to coordinate Council's Growth Area development and contributing to a positive team environment with a supportive approach to enhance team culture.What you'll be doingYour key accountabilities will include:Initial reviews of incoming Development Applications to determine assessment processes and pathways.Undertake assessment of, and process complex or higher impact applications under delegation to agreed standards of quality and time.Through the development assessment process, participate and assist in negotiation with Developers to facilitate the provision of strategic infrastructure (deed and non-deed) within the growth areas and major developments in accordance with Council priorities.Provide information, advice and recommendations to the Planning team and Engineering team on essential infrastructure provision and coordination requirements for development applications.Influence planning outcomes in pre-lodgement and lodgement phase that delivers coordinated, planned and cohesive outcomes between multiple developments.What you'll bring to the roleThe successful candidate will have a degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a similar discipline or extensive experience in a compatible field.In addition, you will:Showcase knowledge or experience in the Local Government development assessment process including general knowledge of Development Regulations.Have demonstrated experience in undertaking preliminary assessments of development applications.Use innovative and practical approach to problem solving and negotiation.Effectively manage, prioritise and meet deadlines with excellent time management skills.Use demonstrated experience in customer service and stakeholder management.Incumbents in this position may be required to possess, or be willing to gain a National Criminal History Clearance.What's in it for youIt's important to us that you are the right fit to join our team, but it's just as important that Playford is the right place for you.
