"Noosa Shire – different by nature" The OpportunityThe successful incumbent will contribute to the achievement of exceptional town planning outcomes within Noosa Shire by monitoring development and land uses to ensure they accord with development approvals, the planning scheme, local law (signage) and Council policies initiating formal compliance action when required.
In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the preservation, protection and enhancement of Noosa Shire's protected vegetation by ensuring vegetation clearing approvals accord with the conservation and visual amenity values of the planning scheme.
Position Status: Permanent Full TimeDepartment: Development and RegulationBranch: Development AssessmentAdvertised: Internal and ExternalPosition Remuneration: Level 4.1 ($83,197 base annual salary) / ($94,435 total remuneration package which is based on a permanent full-time employee and inclusive of 12% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading).Closing Date: 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday, 10 November 2024About YouTo undertake this position, you will have experience in a regulatory role within a dynamic, customer focused work environment, including experience in the field of development compliance and enforcement.
Furthermore, you will possess knowledge of relevant statutory documents and requirements affecting planning and development in Queensland.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview development and land use to ensure compliance with approval conditions, statutory requirements and the Noosa Plan.Undertake final inspections of approved development to ensure compliance with approved plans and conditions to ensure compliance and facilitate the release of Performance Bonds.Proactively inspect and review development and land use throughout the Shire to ensure compliance with the approved plans, conditions of development approvals and the Noosa Plan.Respond to, investigate, and seek to resolve complaints of development breaches pursuant to the Planning Act 2016 and undertake enforcement procedures for non-compliance in a timely manner, meeting statutory time frames where applicable.Provide advice and respond to queries and requests of a technical nature and general nature, to developers, internal officers, professionals and the general public on matters relating to compliance with development approvals, land use, local law for signage and vegetation removal.Prepare correspondence, show cause and enforcement notices, and reports on development compliance and enforcement matters.Use Council's records management system to file and archive all evidence, correspondence and other material related to compliance matters.Conduct research for court cases in relation to enforcement and contribute to briefs of evidence based on audits, site inspections and/or investigations.Process, assess and negotiate on development applications for vegetation removal and local law for signage in a timely manner, while maintaining a strong customer service focus.Decide on applications for vegetation removal and signage under the local law and sign associated correspondence.Exercise a degree of autonomy in making decisions, solving problems and resolving conflicts in relation to compliance and delegated applications.Work on specific projects or in project teams from time to time, according to particular skills, expertise and interest.Meet obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Codes of Practice and Standards and also comply with Council's policies, procedures and processes in accordance with Council's Health and Safety Management system.Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.Further QuestionsPlease contact Nadine Gorton, Coordinator Planning on (07) 5329 6*** for any further information regarding the position.
