What we are looking for: Due to internal progression, we are seeking engaging individuals that have experience working in a regulatory/compliance environment to join the team as Development Compliance Officers.
This role is focused heavily on compliance with Planning Scheme, regulations and associated policies to ensure compliance within legislative time frames by using an educational approach.
What your day will look like: Assessments and Investigations Providing advice to all stakeholders on compliance matters Report writing and file notes Interacting with developers, consultants and the community on a range of matters relating to building, land use, planning issues and the local laws Assessment of Amenity and Aesthetics applications.
What you'll need for success: Knowledge of the principles of law enforcement including the rules of evidence, procedural fairness and other discretion with extensive experience dealing with the public, conflict resolution and difficult situations and issues Relevant Trade Qualification or equivalent experience Working knowledge of or a demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge of the legislation relevant to this role A demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision showing initiative and good judgement with identifiable outcomes.
Intermediate computer literacy with experience in Ms Office Suite of software (word, excel, outlook) and mapping programs.
Well-developed organisational skills and ability to plan and prioritise multiple projects while consistently meeting agreed and legislative time frames.
Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including a demonstrated ability to; Research, compile and present accurate and thorough reports to Council Consult, advise and negotiate with external clients and stakeholders and staff at all levels of the organisation.
