NHMRC is seeking an experienced and high performing candidate to fill a part-time role of a Design Specialist to drive our digital content, web publishing, and graphic design.
Reporting to the Strategic Communications Manager, this role supports digital communications, manages design projects, and ensures web accessibility and consistency with NHMRC branding.
We're looking for someone who is creative, with a good eye, and who takes pride in their work.
This is a non-ongoing part-time role of three days per week for 12 months with the possibility of an extension for a further six months.
About the SectionThe Communications, Parliamentary and Events (CPE) team is a multidisciplinary and busy team responsible for communications strategies, stakeholder engagement, brand, external communications, publications (i.e.
Annual Report, Corporate Plan), media relations, web publishing for nhmrc.gov.au, social media, internal communications, visual design, events, parliamentary and digital content design.
We serve as the external voice for all media enquiries and strive to inform and educate our stakeholders (both internal and external), using a multi-channel approach to inform stakeholders, delivering accurate and timely information for NHMRC's CEO and General Manager.
Job Specific DutiesAs the Design Specialist you will:
Develop creative concepts and visual assets aligned with NHMRC's brandDesign content for social media, email campaigns, print, and eventsProvide guidance on digital strategies and platformsEdit website content in Drupal and ensure WCAG 2.2 complianceMaintain consistency in messaging and presentation.Core CapabilitiesThe successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:
Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, and IllustratorStrong communication skills and stakeholder managementAccountability in task completion and teamworkKnowledge of WCAG 2.2 standards and Drupal web publishingAbility to build rapport with stakeholders and work within brand guidelines.Highly DesirableDemonstrated knowledge and experience of the following will be highly regarded:
Use, analysis, and reporting from Google AnalyticsExperience in web standards, particularly accessibility compliancePhoto/video editing skillsTertiary education in Graphic Design or similar/equivalent experienceEligibilityTo be eligible for a position at NHMRC, you must submit a completed online application form with your Resume prior to the closing date and time, be an Australian citizen and be able to provide evidence of this.
