Our workforce understands what it means to be regional and is committed to the needs of our customers, passengers and communities.The CRN – Country Regional Network ensures the safe movement of people and goods throughout the regions of NSW, and links Sydney to many of the State's important regional centres.UGLRL is proud to be entrusted with the operations and maintenance of this important piece of rail infrastructure.Job PurposeThe MPM (major periodical maintenance) Design Manager operates as a subject matter expert (SME) for all CRN Structures assets, supporting maintenance activities covering the MPM Program and project delivery for all UGLRL managed structures on the CRN and ARTC networks.The MPM Design Manager oversees the technical and engineering aspects of the renewals and delivery planning of the MPM Structures Program. From time to time this role will also support the technical maintenance plan as it applies to CRN managed structures, and provides support to the maintenance team in meeting quality, safety, budget and performance targets.The position provides effective leadership and sustainable working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure site safety, quality and environment controls and risk management.Key Responsibilities• Support the CRN structure assets design lifecycle activities to align with AEO and UGLRL Design Management plans.• Support the prioritisation of structure renewals, design scope, design coordination with UGLRL delivery partners.• Lead the interface between the MPM Program, internal structure maintenance team and other 3rd party stakeholders e.g. ARTC and councils.• Plan and schedule structures enabling works, possessions coordination and manage suppliers as required to meet UGLRL AEO obligations.• Manage configuration change submission to the CCB and manage all gate reviews with stakeholders.• Manage the execution of engineering, procurement and construction activities and adopt appropriate construction methods.• Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme, contractual arrangements, and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take remedial action as required.• Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting, and compliance reporting.• Utilise project planning skills to plan work, monitor implementation and effectiveness to achieve outcomes.• Read and understand plans, review design documentation, read drawings, and provide constructive review and implementing of final designs.• Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications.• Deliver all design projects in accordance with the UGLRL Design Management Plan.Qualifications• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Science, Building Construction or relevant and equivalent industry experience or:• Diploma of Asset Management, Infrastructure, or Maintenance Management• Chartered Engineering Status• Current Class 1 (Minimum) Driving License• Minimum 5-8 years railway structures engineering experience in a similar role (Project Engineer, Senior Projects Engineer, Structures maintenance engineer, etc)About UsUGL is well-known and respected for providing end-to-end engineering, construction, and maintenance services within, rail and transport, communications and technology systems, oil and gas, power, renewables and resources, water and defence markets.
