THE ROLEWe are looking for a Design Manager to lead the design, development and implementation of electrical substations.
This role includes overseeing the technical aspects of projects from conception through commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing expertise in substation systems, protection and equipment.
As the Design Manager, you will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and external partners to ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and operational requirements while adhering to project timelines and budgets.
An element of this role will entail mentoring junior engineers to uplift capability within the project team and assist with growing the design team.
In this role, you will oversee the development of high-voltage substation layouts, single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, ensuring that designs meet industry standards, client specifications and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on safety protocols.
Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to align designs with project objectives, overseeing quality assurance and risk management, while also coordinating with construction teams during the build phase to clarify designs and resolve issues.
Additionally, you will manage project budgets, timelines and resource allocation for the design team while providing technical expertise, guidance and training as needed.
Your support during commissioning and testing phases will be essential to verify designs and address any arising challenges.
