This role will be based in our QLD offices, with some flexibility on location between our Brisbane and Eagle Farm offices. There is also a requirement to work in-house with our client and alongside our key stakeholders' offices.
About the Role: As a Design Manager, you will lead the design of critical infrastructure projects, including water, sewer, and stormwater systems, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
You will manage a diverse design team, coordinate with external stakeholders, and ensure designs are practical, sustainable, and construction-ready. Your responsibilities will include overseeing design validation, risk management, and quality control, while driving innovation and continuous improvement.
Additionally, you will collaborate with clients, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely, cost-effective project delivery with a strong focus on sustainability and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Team ManagementProject Planning and CoordinationDesign OversightQuality Control and AssuranceStakeholder ManagementCompliance and Regulatory ManagementInnovation and Technology AdoptionRisk Management and Problem SolvingBudget & Cost ControlDocumentation and ReportingPost-Design SupportThe successful applicant will ideally have: Bachelor of Engineering (4-year degree), with 8+ years of experience in design for civil and water infrastructure projects.Proven experience in managing project workloads, ensuring quality documentation (ITPs, ITRs, ITCs), and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop design teams.Expertise in water and wastewater project management, including relevant design and technical knowledge (Civil, Utilities, Water Infrastructure).In-depth understanding of industry regulations, standards (e.g., SEQ Water, Urban Utilities), and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Microsoft Office.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.About Us: At Diona, we empower Australian communities by delivering essential services that support a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life.
