About the role The Design Leader will be responsible for developing creative design solutions across a variety of projects and sectors.
This role requires someone who has a true passion for design and is eager to stay abreast of developments of design techniques and trends, as well as being a mentor to other designers within our Perth Studio.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in building client relationships, leading and mentoring teams, and have a track record of high-quality conceptual design work and a built portfolio that includes complex architectural projects.
The role will require a hands-on and collaborative approach and the ability to develop and articulate creative design concepts within a team environment.
Key areas of responsibility: Lead and drive design and design culture across the Perth Studio.
Actively nurture client relationships and be a recognised leader in the Perth market.
Lead the design of major projects, interfacing closely with clients throughout the lifecycle of the project, particularly in the initial phases.
Actively participate in the growth of the Perth Studio through business development, leveraging existing client relationships and expertise to create new opportunities for Woods Bagot in Perth and across the Australian region.
Responsible for the performance and management of design within the Perth Studio.
Be a mentor for all Designers and Architects within the Perth Studio.
Be responsible for design talent recruitment, coaching, mentoring and development.
Lead design and delivery gateway reviews, ensuring these are consistently implemented across the studio and in alignment with established W-B processes.
Lead major bids for the Perth studio.
Regular engagement with internal business units on the design and performance of major projects in the Studio.
Participate in the concept design of nationally significant projects.
Work closely with the design management team to co-ordinate regional design reviews.
About you You will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional client relationship and design skills and a track record of developing innovative approaches to applying the latest tools and processes in your project work.

In this role, you will work closely with client and project teams to compose strategic design concepts then manage the team in developing and delivering world class design outcomes that create high value assets for our clients.
You will be able to demonstrate: BA, MA, ARB, RIBA or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years' experience working predominantly in the WA region.
Recognised profile in profession, business community and property industry.
Client management and relationship building skills.
Strong local market knowledge and business sense.
Excellent design and problem-solving skills.
Maintains a personal reputation both within the company and to outside organisations for a high level of professionalism and skill.
Provides professional leadership by giving specialist advice and developing internal expertise.
Applies recognised professional / technical skills and managerial skills to deliver results in key practice areas.
Builds strong teams and promotes planned succession.
High quality of business and/or professional leadership.
Sound understanding of all aspects of business and professional operations.
Effective communicator and professional mentor.
Recognised practice leader / pre-eminent in profession or sub-discipline.
Management skills, team building and direction setting.
Ability to develop and lead major projects.
