Design Engineer - TransportAbout the OpportunityParkes Shire Council is looking for a Design Engineer - Transport to join our Technical Services team in Parkes, NSW. As a Design Engineer - Transport, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our community. Your specialised engineering design expertise will directly impact the delivery of critical infrastructure projects, ensuring they align with industry standards and enhance the lives of residents and visitors. In addition to your core responsibilities, you will provide holistic engineering design, estimating and contract administration for project delivery. Your strategic approach will assess and address impacts on local and regional road networks, fostering a safer and more efficient transportation environment. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Offering specialised engineering design guidance and expertise.Ensure design work adheres to industry and Council guidelines and standards.Project prioritisation and compliance.Strategic asset management.Traffic impact assessments.RSA certification and audits.Traffic committee engagement.NHVR permit management.Project efficiency and contract management.Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and environmental guidelines.Other duties as required by Parkes Shire CouncilMore information about the role can be found with the Design Engineer - Transport Postion DescriptionInterviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, so early applications are strongly encouraged. About YouTo be successful in this role, you will need:University qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent.Demonstrated and relevant experience in Civil Engineering planning and design. Sound project management skills and ability to plan, prioritise and execute multiple projects. Sound communication and negotiation skills. Well-developed written communication skills. Excellent standard of IT literacy and advanced computer and software skills. Remuneration and BenefitsThe appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.The role has been evaluated as being Grade 14 of Council's salary structure and offers a salary of $86,000 to $98,000 ($47 to $54 per hour) (salary includes civil liability allowance - starting salary depends on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.Benefits of working at Council include:3.5% Civil Liability Allowance is payable (included in salary above).35 hour working week with a fortnightly rostered day off (RDO).Four weeks Annual Leave per year.Access to Long Service Leave (6.5 weeks) after five years.Access to salary packaging options through Salary Packaging Australia (SPA).Health and Wellbeing initiatives including a Health and Wellness Calendar and two (2) Health and Wellness days off per year. Relocation assistance which includes 40% reimbursement of removalist costs upon commencement and a further 40% reimbursement after 18 months service.
