Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Draftsperson to join our dynamic team at Schlam. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing detailed models & drawings tailored to specific project needs. You will follow the design of products from concept through to in-field use, ensuring seamless integration and functionality throughout their lifecycle. Additionally, you will play a critical role in product and process refinement, new product development, and driving initiatives to enhance productivity within our operations. Duties & Responsibilities: Design Documentation:Develop, manage, and maintain detailed models & drawings for various projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements.Develop and refine mechanical designs based on project specifications.Prepare technical drawings and 3D models using industry-standard design software.Collaboration and Teamwork:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of design solutions.Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve project outcomes.Product and Process Refinement:Collaborate with engineers and production teams to refine existing products, improving their functionality, efficiency, and manufacturability.Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.New Product Development:Support the development of new products from concept to production, including design iteration and prototype evaluation.Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and company quality guidelines.Continuous Improvement:Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in design technologies to incorporate best practices into the design process.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.Compliance and Standards:Conduct regular reviews and updates of drawings to maintain compliance and relevance.Qualifications – License's, Certificates & Competencies: Tertiary qualifications in Drafting and/or Design or a related field.Qualifications and/or experience in CAD 3D Drafting.Desired Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for creating detailed drawings.Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.To be successful, you will need: Proven experience as a Design Draftsperson in a similar industry.Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar.A solid understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings and documentation.Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.A proactive approach to problem-solving and a continuous improvement mindset.Familiarity with fabrication & welding standards and best practices in design and manufacturing.Commitment to producing high-quality work and maintaining thorough documentation.Enthusiasm for innovation and a willingness to adapt to new technologies and methods.Knowledge of 3D scanning techniques is a plus.About You:
