Design Coordinator (PLMSP - Palladium) Project Overview: The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a signature initiative for the Australian Government that enables workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and Timor- Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia.
The Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program's (PLMSP) role is to provide the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and governments in 9 PICs and Timor-Leste with support to enable workers to access PALM scheme in inclusive ways that maximise the benefits for the workers and national economies while minimising risks from labour mobility participation.
Palladium is contracted to deliver PLMSP on behalf of DFAT.
Role Overview: The Design Coordinator will be responsible for working with the communications team, to support the delivery of the PLMSP Communication and Marketing Strategy.
The aim of the Strategy is to maximise the exposure of Pacific labour mobility and build Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme brand awareness and reputation across the Pacific region.
The Design Coordinator will provide communications and administrative support to the Communications team and assist in developing communication and marketing materials.
As an experienced team member, the Design Coordinator will support the upskilling of staff in content creation and other communication activities as required, and train or buddy more junior colleagues; as well as support the onboarding and training of project teams on communications related company policies and guidelines.
This is a fixed term opportunity required for 4 years with possibility of extension.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Design Coordinator will be responsible for: Develop engaging and accurate communication and marketing content for use in Australia and labour-sending countries.
Undertake general design and videography content gathering, creation and editing.
Developing infographics and providing graphic design support to ensure PLMSP materials are visually engaging and communicate concepts clearly.
Actively seek out story identification and development.
Support the Communications team to execute country-specific marketing activities, where needed, including field visits, workshops and media events.
Maintain an understanding of regional contexts and make appropriate recommendations to build local understanding of the PALM scheme in the sending countries, enhance its reputation and manage risks.
Understand how innovation and technology shape the way we work and introduce new ways of working through AI, data and technology.
Required Qualifications: Successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: Relevant work experience in art direction, graphic design, communications or in a media advisory capacity, with qualifications in a relevant discipline such as, design, digital media, communications or similar highly desirable.
Exceptional writing and editing skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
An understanding of media environments, particularly in regional Australia, Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Nauru, Kiribati, Tuvalu, PNG and Timor-Leste.
Experience working with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.
Skilled in using Microsoft Office software and Adobe CS software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Experience with photography and/or videography.
Experience in using digital media and producing content to build an online audience.
