As we continue to grow, we're looking for a dedicated design assistant to join our team.You will collaborate with and assist the Design Team to develop collections in line with brand DNA, market direction, quality and fit requirements.
As Design Assistant, your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Trend ResearchAssist Head Designer with trend and print research across:Online seasonal trend research support as required by Head DesignerSeasonal print sourcing as required by Head DesignerFormatting trend and print research into presentations for Design team workshops, and distributing to team membersUpdating and maintaining range charts, range planners and production schedules.Coordinating meeting times for creative workshops.Design WorkshopsParticipate in Design Workshops, and complete follow up tasks as required.Responsible for:Actively sharing ideas and participating in Design workshopsKeep notes of design workshop decisions and distribute to the relevant team membersSet up and maintain seasonal Range Charts and Range Planner, ensuring they are up to date and accessible to team membersAssist the Head Designer with images and sketches as required in preparation of Design brief handovers to Garment TechnologistPrint and Embroidery Design and DevelopmentSupport the Design team in print and embroidery design and development.Responsible for:Assisting Head Designer with print and embroidery sourcing as requiredRe-colouring and design development of prints & embroideries, with direction from Creative Director and Head DesignerPreparing and communicating print & embroidery briefs and supporting files to factories for strikeoffsFollowing up strikeoff development with factories, ensuring they are submitted on time, checking strikeoffs follow the brief, prepare preliminary commentsReview print and embroidery strikeoffs together with Design Team, communicate feedback and approvals to factoriesReview SMS prints against approved strikeoffs and prepare preliminary comments, review with Design Team and communicate comments to factoriesMaintain admin & filing of artwork and submissionsFabric and TrimsResponsible for:Colour palettes & Fabrics - swatching, distributing and filing seasonal/drop colour palettes and fabrics with reference codes/names to team membersCommunicating seasonal fabric and colour information to factories, ensuring accurate information is maintained on Range ChartsCommunicating "official" colour and style names to factories for SMS labellingMaintaining admin & filing of fabric headers, swatches and submissions by seasonEnsure after POs are sent factories submit bulk fabric submission chart (noting send dates, shared fabrics, and which factories are sending submissions)Follow up factories on bulk fabric and trims submissions to ensure they are submitted on-time according to the timeline, update status on chart ensuring it's accessible for all team membersPrepare fabric and trim submissions for Design team to review promptlyEnsure all bulk fabrics and trims are submitted, match requirements, communicate comments and approvals to factories, by deadlineGarment Fit SessionsParticipate in garment fit sessions, supporting the Garment Technologist with fit sample preparation.Responsible for:Fit session preparation, including following up sample parcels, printing specs, assisting Garment Technologist with steaming, measuring and hanging.Attend fitting sessions, ensuring Range Charts and previous Design comments are available, actively participating and sharing feedback and ideasPhotographing each style in fit sessions, uploading and filing photos on BOX, and sending fit photos to factories to support fit comments at each development stage (proto/SMS/PPS)Sample ManagementResponsible for:Prepare for meetings by printing any assets to be discussed and collating relevant samplesFollow up sample sending with factories and co-ordinate sample ranges for design workshops, fitting sessions, photoshoots, marketing events, and Sales AgentsSMS ordering, following up with factories, ensuring they are correct and sent on-time.
Review SMS photos together with Design Team communicating comments/approvals to send to factoriesSend and track parcels of samples returning to factories/Head Designer office etcSupport Head Designer and Garment Technologist with sample co-ordination for design briefs/fittings and construction review as requiredAssist Design Team in Completing Tasks in Line with Critical Path DeadlinesResponsible for:Ensuring Design Assistant tasks are completed by deadline, and follow briefed task requirementsAwareness of seasonal timelines, ensuring timeline documents are up to date and accessible to team membersSubmissions are reviewed promptly with the relevant team members, and comments communicated by deadlinePlease submit your CV and portfolio here on Seek, and our general manager will be in touch to arrange an interview.
