H&P Australia is seeking a Derrickhand for our drilling project at various locations including Perth Basin, Tasmania, Beetaloo Basin, Mc Arthur Basin, Mereenie, Amadeus Basin, South Nicholson Basin, Bowen Basin, Surat Basin, Cooper Basin, Canning Basin, Otway Basin, and Hunter Valley.
Responsibilities: The Derrickhand is primarily responsible for the mud system and associated equipment, performing various manual labor tasks throughout the rig site.
Demonstrate core values and safety standards according to the H&P way.
Welcome and mentor incoming Floorhands.
Monitor the performance of the mud pumps and perform exchange of expendable items as required, as well as general maintenance of pumps.
Properly lock out and tag equipment on the mud system during repairs and other activities that require isolation of equipment.
Oversee condition and basic analysis of drilling fluid in the active and reserve mud systems as per the direction of customers and service companies.
Monitor pit fluid levels, transfer fluids in and out of the rig mud system, and maintain the condition of solids control equipment.
Direct roughnecks and roustabouts during repairs and general maintenance of mud system related equipment.
Report and advise the driller of any changes regarding drilling fluid status.
Provide inventory of necessary chemicals and fluids utilized for treatment of drilling fluids to the Operator representative.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly service to overhead equipment in the mast used to hoist tubular products in and out of the well bore.
Positions themself +/- 100 feet above ground level at the derrick board during tripping operations.
Perform visual inspections of all equipment from rig floor to top of crown section and report any issues immediately to the driller.
Demonstrate complete understanding of rig well control equipment with the ability to function any aspect of the equipment at the driller's command.
Operate rig and systems from the control panel to maximize drilling and tripping efficiency.
Monitor and ensure proper well control practices are followed as per H&P operating procedure.
Ensure compliance with all relevant H&P policies.
Stay up to date on current Workday trainings as assigned.
Australia-specific considerations: Apply relevant Australian legislation as it pertains to Drilling, HSE obligations and expectations.
Ability to effectively work in indigenous environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and H&P applications.
Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Flexible and adaptable, able to overcome and solve problems.
Understand and apply local, territory, state, and federal statutory obligations.
What you need: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2+ years of prior experience in oil/gas.
Minimum of 2 years Flex Rig and Flex Rig technology experience.
Working 21 x 21 including daily 15-minute PT Safety Meetings, 12-hour workdays, and (2) 1-hour Rig Manager Safety Trainings per hitch.
