The team deploys and operates these assets to create value, through participation in energy markets and other programs.This is a senior role with a high expectation of autonomy and the ability to work with engineering teams, scrum teams, existing vendors and potential partners. This is an amazing opportunity to gain experience in the emerging field of distributed energy, learn about wholesale markets, consider customer needs, and deliver long-term customer benefits.The DER Senior Software Systems Engineer will support the growth and ongoing operations of the VPP and interface between our hardware and market teams with our software teams.The role is based in Melbourne, however we are open to consider interstate candidates open to relocation.Reporting to the Principal DER engineer in the DER Engineering team, you will be responsible for:Delivering software-based orchestration projects by providing technical leadership to cross-functional technical teams including software engineers.Act as the interface between software delivery teams and the DER Engineering team. This role is expected to integrate into the scrum team(s) and be the business leader for the software delivery process for the internal NEO platform.Be a key technical resource who understands the site and hardware constraints, energy market requirements, but with a focus on delivering the software and data that are core enablers for AGL's VPP capability.Demonstrate a deep knowledge of real-world orchestration control strategies and overall orchestration platform architectures and be the key subject matter expert for the scrum team(s).Demonstrate thought leadership on VPPs and orchestration control strategies providing key inputs to AGL's VPP capability roadmap, considering cost/value trade-offs.Represent AGL publicly in appropriate technical forums to provide input on the evolution of government policy and technical standards relevant to VPPs.About YouTertiary or advanced degree in engineering preferred.Deep software systems understanding, either from data science or software development roles.Relevant energy industry experience from a network, energy company, or software company (7+ years preferred).Excellent stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated capability to influence internal and external parties through to a preferred outcome.Excellent communication skills and proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple explanations.Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams to achieve business outcomes and managing through indirect reporting lines to key delivery stakeholders.Applications close on 27 November 2024Inclusion at AGLAt AGL, we value diversity and welcome applicants from various backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, individuals with disabilities, culturally diverse individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
