The Deputy Senior Registrar role provides an exciting opportunity to actively contribute to the modernisation and improvement of the court system. With a focus on safety, innovation, efficiency, and enhanced access to justice, this position involves shaping a more responsive and user-friendly court experience in Queensland. You will play a vital role in overseeing efficient registry operations, coaching and leading staff, supporting resource management, community engagement, and service improvement. Additionally, you'll provide essential support to the judiciary and various stakeholders, ensuring the implementation of effective processes for equitable services in a timely and efficient manner. This role allows you to make a meaningful impact, adapt to evolving practices, and actively participate in the transformation of Queensland courts.
ResponsibilitiesProvide strong and effective leadership to the registry ensuring a supportive and cohesive workplace environment for all staff;Keep stakeholders of the courts at the heart of service delivery and respond to their needs in a trauma-aware and compassionate manner, ensuring the prompt resolution of enquiries, requests issues and complaints;Act as the point of escalation for registry staff in recognising and responding to risks relating to Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV), including anti-social behaviours of court users by determining appropriate actions and pathways for information sharing with other internal or external parties to manage and where possible, prevent the risks presented.Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing community awareness and understanding of the justice system, while effectively achieving organisational objectives and supporting court users from disadvantaged backgrounds;Cultivate and nurture professional and collaborative relationships based on respectful and confidential engagement with key stakeholders including judiciary members and their staff, government agencies, self-represented litigants, and the general public to provide effective service delivery and support;Support implementation of transparent financial, human resource, data and risk management practices to ensure accountability and efficiency;Support the Registrar and deputy registrar to manage the daily operations in various areas including workforce planning, performance management, staff development and the provision of timely and constructive feedback to direct reports thereby contributing to the achievement of strategic and operational goals;Contribute to high-level reporting and analysis of operations data, ensuring the integrity of data is maintained on Courts' databases including the Queensland Wide Interlinked Court (QWIC) system and Civil Listing and Information Management system (CLAIMS);Maintain an in-depth understanding of services, including referral pathways to other Government and third-party services, and relay appropriate knowledge and information to meet stakeholder requirements;Disseminate comprehensive information to the local community regarding government programs, services, and products to foster enhanced awareness and engagement;Drive a culture of continuous learning, goal achievement, self-reflection and motivation within the registry team while reinforcing contemporary knowledge, practices and responsiveness to constructive feedback;Contribute to maintaining a culture of excellence in service delivery, fostering innovation, and promoting continuous improvement;Fulfill statutory duties as a Justice of the Peace, Clerk of the Court and Registrar as required, ensuring compliance with legal obligations and the integrity of court processes; this may include making complex and abstract operational and quasi-judicial decisions within legislative parameters and following established procedures, protocols, and governance mechanisms. Any quasi-judicial decisions made may be subject to review by a Court;Serve as a representative of the department in committees and meetings as necessary, effectively communicating CSQ perspectives and contributing to decision-making processes.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
