It also provides grants to community groups and non-government organisations to expand services to support people and offers interpreting services in 110 languages, including several First Nations.Role Details The Deputy Registrar is a senior role within the Screening Unit and is accountable to the Director, Screening for:Providing high level advice to manage legal risks and achieve outcomes for a diverse range of complex and sensitive matters that meet the Department's statutory and legal obligations as set out in the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (CSPPA) and the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 (DIA) and legal and policy frameworks governing screenings.Providing leadership and strategic direction of the Central Assessment Unit, including the development and review of operational guidelines and business processes across the Unit, that support legislative requirements.Providing leadership with respect to strategic, business and resource plans that support achievement of organisational objectives and deliver exceptional customer service.Developing and maintaining effective partnerships with key external stakeholders within other government and non-government agencies. Key outcomes and accountabilities:Review and settle complex screening assessment reports and recommendations, including leading the Unit in the protection of confidential information and preparation of high-level documentation for appeals to the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.Influence and drive the strategic direction of the Central Assessment Unit and monitoring function in the Department to provide consistent criminal history assessments and legally defensible decision making for the Department.Lead and drive sound administrative law decision-making processes within a risk-based assessment framework across the Central Assessment Unit, including the development of operational policy, procedure and workflows to support consistent decision-making.Collaborate with the Customer Service team, Screening Unit to ensure streamlined workflow and information sharing.Develop and coach staff in sound decision-making practices.Influence and contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of business systems, processes, and compliance monitoring, including initiatives specific to organisational changes within the Central Assessment Unit and across the Screening Unit.Drive the identification, development and maintenance of strong and robust governance, compliance, accountability and risk management systems across the Screening Unit.Ensure Working with Children Checks and NDIS Working Screening Checks are conducted in accordance with the legislative framework, and where required, exclusionary and prohibition notices are issued pursuant to legislative requirements.Special Conditions National Police Check required. Employment-related Screening Check required. The role involves exposure to sensitive material including child protection and police information.
Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program is included.
