The Role

The AIR5431 PH3 Team, located within the Air & Surface Surveillance and Control (ASSC) Branch, is seeking applications from talented and experienced project managers to work on the Civil Military Air Traffic Management Systems (CMATS) Project.

As an EL 2 Deputy Project Director, you will be responsible for leading an integrated team and manage all planning, governance, risk and reporting aspects of the Capability Life Cycle. This will entail:

Influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices

in support of Defence objectives based on legislative frameworks, Defence guidelines and regulations, high level decision-making and judgement;

Fostering and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships;

Planning and implementing complex product schedules and budgets;

Preparing briefings, submissions, reports and returns

relating to the project progress and issues.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team

AIR5431 PH3 is a Defence project that is working with Airservices Australia to integrate the next generation of Air Traffic Control (ATC) platforms and supporting infrastructure into a safe, secure, reliable and scalable National Air Traffic Control management system that meets both Defence and civil requirements.

It also provides improved safety, efficiency and capacity, to enhance joint Air Traffic Management (ATM) processes and procedures that facilitate the flexible use of Airspace Sectors within a single Australian Flight Information Region (FIR) and airspace that is under Australian authority responsibility.

High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives;

Sound commercial and business acumen and a demonstrated understanding of the Defence Industry sector in Australia.
