Our students are active learners who come from a rich cultural and linguistic background. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Principal - Secondary Schooling, to join our dedicated and extensive school leadership team. This permanent full-time position can be offered as a temporary or permanent appointment and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

The predominant traditional language spoken in Aurukun is Wik Mungkan; this is the first language of most Aurukun children. A region rich in traditional cultural practices.

About the OpportunityReporting to the school Principal, as a Deputy Principal - Secondary Schooling, you will directly contribute to the continuous improvement in educational outcomes for school students at Koolkan Aurukun SS with a focus on attendance, behaviour, literacy and numeracy. You will work with the Principal to successfully implement Departmental priorities in positive behaviour learning (PBL).
About the RoleAs the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:
Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Deputise for the Principal when required.Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.Be futures oriented and strategic.Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.Manage resources to achieve goals.The role will be a non-teaching role, however as the need arises you will be required to provide internal relief.
