Salary: Level 3, $132,143 - $144,601 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2021)This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension (24 months)Cocos (Keeling) Islands District High School (DHS) operates as a Kindergarten to Year 10 (K-10) school, split across two campuses, West Island and Home Island. We ensure a seamless transition between early childhood, primary, and secondary schooling, applying a whole-school approach and instructional model to all learning activities.Home Island classes (Years K-6), and the West Island classes (Years 7-10) are comprised predominantly of students from an English as an Additional Language/ Dialect (EALD) background (Cocos Malay). West Island primary classes (K-6) are comprised predominantly of students from an Anglo-Australian background.Our school prides itself on our pastoral care and inclusivity to support the development of students as high functioning members of the community.The successful applicant should have the capacity and resilience to develop others while working collaboratively to ensure whole school initiatives and Business Plan targets are achieved. These initiatives include improving literacy and numeracy outcomes, effective data analysis, curriculum differentiation, sustainability, STEM, teacher self-reflection, and parental engagement.You will ideally have highly developed knowledge of the Western Australian curriculum, including EALD, in addition to knowledge of current research and evidence-based practices. A strong understanding of instructional leadership and a capacity to link learning across curriculum areas and the cross-curriculum priorities is highly desirable.You should have the capacity to lead the analysis of data effectively, and experience in implementing whole school approaches with fidelity. Deputy principals at Cocos Islands DHS possess capacity in Students At Educational Risk (SAER) management. They have experience in making requests for Special Education Needs (SEN) support, liaising with school psychologists, as well as parents, teachers and other allied health professionals.The successful applicant will ideally possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the diplomacy to modify their leadership style to obtain the best outcomes for all, whilst modelling and promoting the school's vision and values.
