The appointed Deputy Principal – Student Services will support the school to articulate and realise a vision that aligns with our Moral Purpose 'We are committed to achieving positive life outcomes for our students by ensuring every child achieves academic success and personal growth'. You will be a vital member of the school's leadership team committed to promoting the school's vision to be a school of excellence in teaching and learning.
The Deputy - Student Services will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on students in relation to attendance, behaviour, social/emotional wellbeing, educational engagement and Students at Educational Risk. The successful applicant will be committed to leading high levels of student engagement and academic and personal achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. You will join our Principal, Deputy Principal -Teaching and Learning, Program Coordinator – Specialised Learning Program - Autism, Lead Special Needs Education Assistant, Early Childhood Learning Support Coordinator and our School Psychologist to enhance our high-performing Administration Team, leading school improvement in our community.
The successful applicant will ideally have proven and effective leadership qualities, including the capacity to strategically lead evidence-based improvements, inspire others, and build and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and staff across the North Mandurah community. You will have a leading role in the case management of our students considered at educational risk through your knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies. There is an associated responsibility to establish and manage administrative and operational systems within student support, to ensure the effective operation of your portfolio within the school, in accordance with Department policy and guidelines. Highly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents and the community is highly advantageous to this role.
An extensive knowledge of disabilities and evidence-based approaches will be highly desirable to lead and manage the Student Services team to provide tiered interventions, pastoral care, support and development programs for students. These strategies are integral to enhancing student engagement to ensure high social, emotional and educational outcomes for all students within our school context. 
This year the school has drafted new whole school behaviour and SAER policies in anticipation of their implementation in Semester 2. Copies of these working drafts have been attached to the advert and your application should contain reference to these documents, outlining suggestions for implementation as well as potential challenges the school may face.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings; High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes; Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs). Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources. Applications will be assessed against the work related requirements of the position. The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
