Job Summary This is a Senior Executive role reporting directly to the Principal, primarily focused on leadership and management of academic learning P-12. Responsibilities include curriculum development, academic improvement, and professional development. The role requires strategic thinking to enhance curriculum dimensions like programming, pedagogy, technology implementation, and professional learning.
The Deputy Principal Curriculum and Academic Development should be innovative, inspiring, knowledgeable in curriculum compliance, proficient in technology, and a positive role model. Participation in school activities, professional learning, and promoting the college's vision is expected. Deputising for the Principal and attending key events are part of the role.
Curriculum Administration Chair and lead Academic Committee meetings regularly for curriculum matters. Generate teaching allocations in consultation with the Principal. Approve assignment extensions and oversee Assessment Schedule. Manage external testing compliance and student allocation processes. Facilitate parent-teacher interviews and oversee late assessment items. Review and recommend updates to the Academic Handbook annually. Curriculum Compliance Develop a seamless P-12 curriculum and ensure teaching programs' quality. Oversee QCAA matters and teacher accreditation processes. Ensure effective reporting and curriculum excursions. Apply for government grants related to curriculum areas. Curriculum Improvement Analyze test results and develop improvement strategies. Mentor teachers, develop PD plans, and implement technology in teaching. Develop learning enhancement programs and promote professional development. Collaborate with the Principal on Teaching and Learning Framework. Contributory Review the School website and lead the QCAA Registration process. Address students at assembly, assist in staff appointments, and attend community meetings. Maintain knowledge of educational trends and assist in curriculum policies. Meet weekly with the Principal and carry out additional duties as required. Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications in education and experience in teacher development. Extensive curriculum knowledge and experience in project management. Experience in working with First Nations peoples and government funded programs. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Key Attributes Supervisory, leadership, and teamwork skills. Effective communication, reliability, and focus on students and quality. Attention to detail, flexibility, safety consciousness, and personal presentation. Workplace Health and Safety Maintain a safe work environment and comply with health and safety policies. Hours of Work The hours are governed by the EBA.
Additional Factors All teachers must maintain QLD teacher registration and undergo an annual performance appraisal.
