The school is seeking a dynamic and high-performing Deputy Principal to join our united leadership team. Mawson Primary School is the only ACT school that has a Mandarin Immersion Program. Our overarching goal at Mawson is to develop students who are assessment-capable visible learners. Mawson Primary School is at the commencement of its new student-centred School Improvement Plan with two main priorities:To develop the personal and social capabilities of students to positively impact engagement and connectedness.To increase student growth in mathematics.The successful applicant will provide whole-school instructional leadership to drive curriculum implementation (in both the Mandarin immersion and mainstream classes) using high-impact pedagogical practices.As an educational leader, the successful applicant will:Support the Principal in strategic planning through promoting, refining, and leading the Student-Centred Improvement Plan. The ability to evaluate and analyse a range of student learning evidence and data to measure and monitor impact is essential to the role.Assist the Principal to manage the human, financial, and physical resources of the school to achieve optimal social and educational outcomes for all students.Demonstrate a high-level understanding of best practice pedagogy in bilingual education and an immersion setting.Have a high-level understanding of the visible learning research and high-impact teaching strategies with the ability to lead teachers to measure their impact, especially through calculating effect sizes.Build the instructional leadership capacity of the SLCs to lead effective teaching and learning.In conjunction with the Principal, be responsible for student management and the maintenance of positive parent, community, and stakeholder relations.Provide leadership to the preschool and kindergarten teams with a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to ensure high-quality early childhood education and compliance.Eligibility/Other Requirements: Prior to commencing in this role, a minimum of four years full-time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification; a current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) and a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
