We're excited to implement a dynamic new leadership model at VLA and are looking for two Deputy Managing Lawyers to lead our growing team in the Gippsland region. This is a unique opportunity to influence how we deliver legal services and advocate for our community.
In this role, you'll manage the daily operations of a team of lawyers specialising in criminal, civil, or family law. Your leadership will be vital in supervising and mentoring staff, overseeing and conducting complex casework, and ensuring high-quality legal service delivery.
Additionally, you'll have the chance to travel within the region, strengthening connections with clients and stakeholders.
This role is based at our Morwell or Bairnsdale office on Gunaikurnai Country. About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
A proven ability to develop, motivate, and manage a diverse team effectively, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.Substantial experience in criminal, civil, or family law, with a demonstrated capacity to handle complex legal matters as a senior lawyer.Experience in supervising and mentoring staff to enhance their professional growth.Excellent communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients from disadvantaged backgrounds.A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).About Gippsland
