We're seeking two ambitious and driven leaders as Deputy Heads of Domestic Markets Department. In these roles, you will be responsible for providing executive leadership and strategic direction of the Domestic Markets Department.
The mission of our Domestic Markets Department is to provide robust policy advice on financial conditions in Australia and to conduct the RBA's operations in domestic financial markets. The department analyses developments in domestic financial markets, including the cost and availability of finance through financial intermediaries and capital markets, and provides regular advice to the Governors and the Reserve Bank Board on these issues. It operates in the Australian money and bond markets including to implement the policy decisions of the Reserve Bank Board. The Domestic Markets Department is part of the Financial Markets Group, and comprises around 100 staff including a team supporting the business service needs.
ObjectivesYou will have an impact by:
Inspiring, guiding and enabling staff in Domestic Markets Department to deliver effectively on the Reserve Bank's goals and strategies.Leading and developing people in the team to produce high quality policy advice, and directing and contributing to policy-relevant analysis and research within the Department.Helping to lead the Bank's operations in financial markets and engagement with financial market participants.Inspiring a culture that is open and dynamic – fostering diverse perspectives and engagement, collaborating with stakeholders, and with a focus on delivering outcomes, prioritisation, learning and adapting as we go.You will play an important role in shaping the future of our iconic Australian institution.
You will report to the Head of Domestic Markets Department, within the Financial Markets Group.
CapabilitiesYour thought leadership combined with your strong stakeholder management skills, resilience, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills will help set you up for success in this key senior Bank leadership role.
To be successful in this critical role you will possess:
Expertise in either or both of – analysing policy issues with advanced understanding of domestic financial markets and their interaction with the Australian economy and/or operations in money and bond markets.Strong research and advisory capability, coupled with proven ability to develop policy proposals.Strong people leadership, coaching and mentoring skills, and ability to foster an open and dynamic culture.The ability to think strategically and consider risks, including with an enterprise perspective.Success driving and delivering key business outcomes, leading teams and driving change in a diverse and complex environment.Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate, influence, and communicate strongly with key stakeholders across the bank and externally.Relevant academic and professional qualifications, preferably at a postgraduate level, or equivalent experience.This is a 5 Year Fixed Term contract.
