Deputy Director Social Mastery Assurance and Evaluation Skip to content Deputy Director Social Mastery Assurance and EvaluationCDLE will establish a system to assure and evaluate Defence's Social Mastery education, training, and development of military and civilian personnel. This position is new, so its duties will evolve. The person in this position will:Work in an integrated team of ADF members and Australian Public Service (APS) employees;Work closely with the RAN, Army, RAAF, and other Defence Groups;Design, develop, and maintain the assurance and evaluation system;Ascertain appropriate tools and information sources;Manage the conduct of assurance and evaluation activities and preparation of reports; andAppropriately manage assigned ADF and APS staff.The system will cover one of the most complex organisations in Australia, and have potentially far-reaching impacts on the quality of the Nation's defence. This is a unique opportunity to design and develop a whole-of-enterprise system from the "ground up", to manage its implementation, and guide its maturity.About our TeamThe Australian Defence College's (ADC) Centre for Defence Leadership and Ethics (CDLE) leads in the professional military education of 'Social Mastery' for military and civilian personnel in the Australian Defence Organisation (Defence) - comprising the Australian Defence Force and the Department of Defence. CDLE defines, delivers and assures the quality of Defence's Social Mastery learning across the fields of command and leadership, military ethics, character, and cultural intelligence. CDLE's role is grounded in robust research, real-world experience, academic expertise, and enterprise-wide engagement. We enable the practical application of Social Mastery learning across Defence, drawing on a joint, all-ranks perspective, reinforced through real life case studies, deep personal experience, and world-leading research. We are a united team who values robust debate and critical analysis, underpinned by a deep respect for the achievements, experience, and expertise of our colleagues.Our Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be:A training and development professional, experienced in the design, implementation, and management of learning and development assurance and evaluation systems, particularly levels three and four of Kirkpatrick's Evaluation model.Well experienced in leading and managing people development projects, and writing quality reports to senior executives.Adept at collaborating across a large and complex organisation comprising many perspectives, and constructively resolving uncertainty or disagreement.Comfortable working to achieve Defence's mission and being informed of the sometimes confronting nature of Defence's operations and activities.Willing and able to work cooperatively in CDLE's integrated ADF and APS workforce, and positively manage assigned ADF and APS staff.Able to contribute to CDLE's mission with enthusiasm, proactivity, and ingenuity.Preferably, experienced working in, or closely with, the military and experienced in implementing the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (or similar system).Application Closing Date: Sunday 15 September 2024Australia's defence policy is founded on the principle of self-reliance in the direct defence of Australia, but with a capacity to do more where there are shared interests with partners and allies.Strategic DirectionThe Defence White Paper was released on 25 February 2016 together with an Integrated Investment Program and Defence Industry Policy Statement.Defence White Papers are the Government's most important guidance about Australia's long-term defence capability.
