About the role: Due to a recent operation restructure, UC is currently recruiting for a strategic leader passionate for risk management, safety, and wellbeing to join our People and Culture team as our Deputy Director, Risk and Safety.
This pivotal role will contribute to the strategic and operational success of the University, ensuring that risk management and safety are embedded in everything we do.
Key responsibilities: Lead and inspire the Risk & Safety team.
Provide strategic leadership on risk and compliance management.
Oversee and manage the University's internal audit program.
Develop and maintain the University's Strategic Risk Register.
Drive the embedding of risk management practices across the university.
Provide support to the Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) and contribute to preparedness exercises.
Prepared for critical incidents through the development and facilitation of a comprehensive business continuity and emergency management program.
Lead the implementation of the University's fraud and corruption prevention arrangements.
About you: To be successful in this role, you will bring: Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, safety, business, or a related discipline.
Proven experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, ideally within a large, complex organization.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, compliance requirements, and safety best practices.
Demonstrated experience in managing internal audits, business continuity, and critical incident response programs.
Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels, including senior executives and governance committees.
A commitment to fostering a culture of safety, wellbeing, and risk awareness across an organisation.
