Deputy Director of Medical Services - Albany Health Service Western Australia – Country Health Service One Year - Fixed Term, 80 hours per fortnight (1 FTE) Appointment with possibility of extension/s. This is a unique opportunity for an early-career (Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) Fellow, a Fellow of any clinical college or a clinician without fellowship with four or more years of clinical experience with a vision for leadership and commitment to regional healthcare.
As a Deputy Director of Medical Services, you will work closely with the Director of Medical Services, providing essential support in the management and oversight of medical services, with responsibilities including:
Daily Management of Medical Services: Ensuring safe, efficient, and timely delivery of clinical services across Albany Health Campus.Junior Medical Staff Oversight: Collaborating with senior medical staff to recruit, select and support junior medical professionals.Outpatients Services Management: Overseeing outpatient services to optimise patient care.National Standards and Quality Improvement: Participating in quality committees and initiatives to uphold accreditation and improve patient outcomes.Clinical Outcomes Activities: Engaging in clinical incident investigations, complaint management, and audits to enhance services quality.Compliance with Accreditation Requirements: Working with Director of Clinical Training and Heads of Department to meet standards set by the Post Graduate Medical Council of WA and Learned Colleges.In this role, you will also have the opportunity to rapidly build strong relationships with regional General Practitioners, providing them with essential support and fostering a collaborative healthcare environment.

Qualifications and Experience Must hold registration by the Medical Board of Australia.Have significant experience or training in clinical leadership and change management.Proven ability to effectively plan, prioritise tasks, make sound decisions, meet deadlines, and manage resources efficiently.Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities, with strengths in negotiation and conflict resolution.Must have a current C or C-A class driver's licence.Up-to-date understanding of legislative requirements, including Equal Employment Opportunity, Disability Services, Occupational Safety and Health, and Freedom of Information, and their impact on employment practices and service delivery.Remuneration The advertised salary range is based on the Non-Specialist Qualified Medical Administrator, Senior Medical Practitioner and Medical Administrator classifications under the WA Health System – Medical Practitioners – AMA Industrial Agreement 2022. Your level will take into consideration your qualifications and experience.
