The Museum is looking for an experienced, qualified and engaging senior executive leader to lead the Growth and Engagement division and contribute to the Museum's (and the APS) talent pool of SES employees who exemplify leadership behaviours as set out in the APS Values and the Secretaries Charter of Leadership Behaviours.

We are looking for a transformational and collaborative leader who will grow the Museum's brand, audience reach and own-source revenue over the next decade. You will oversee our marketing, digital, fundraising, commercial, audience insights and content creation functions. You will bring exceptional business acumen to the role to maximise the ongoing growth, impact and public benefit of the Museum.

This role is a member of the Museum's Executive which comprises the Director, Deputy Director Curatorial and Collections, Deputy Director First Nations, Deputy Director Corporate, Deputy Director Growth and Engagement, and Associate Director Visitor Experience.

The key duties of the position include Role purpose The Deputy Director, Growth and Engagement is pivotal in guiding the Museum's transformative efforts toward expansion and financial sustainability through strategic growth and innovative commercial initiatives. This role involves overseeing the Creative Content, Commercial, Digital, and Development business units, and leading the creation and implementation of strategies designed to boost audience engagement, revenue and digital presence.

With a strong emphasis on tourism, retail and philanthropy, you will navigate financial strategies to ensure the Museum's long-term success. You will also build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the private sector and media, enhancing the Museum's profile and broadening its reach both nationally and internationally.

Additionally, you will oversee the alignment of growth strategies with the Museum's broader objectives, working closely with senior leadership to ensure that divisional goals support the Museum's mission and strategic priorities. Your leadership will be crucial in advancing the Museum's mission to connect diverse audiences and promote cross-cultural dialogue, shaping its growth trajectory and impact for the future.

Skills, experience and qualifications Essential: Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to identify and capitalise on revenue-generating opportunities, resulting in measurable improvements to an organisation's financial performance.Experience in the fields of digital marketing and e-commerce.Proven track record in establishing, nurturing and sustaining strategic partnerships, resulting in beneficial collaborations that advance organisational goals and drive growth.Innovative and forward-thinking, with a demonstrated ability to drive growth and foster innovation in a dynamic environment, coupled with transferrable skills readily adaptable to the cultural institution setting.Proven track record in philanthropic and/or fundraising and/or capital growth endeavours, showcasing the ability to cultivate relationships with donors and secure funding from a variety of sources to support organisational objectives.A degree in Marketing, Business Development, Digital Technology or a related field.Significant experience (10+ years) in a leadership role focused on audience growth and commercial strategy. Desirable: Knowledge of emerging and growing trends and technologies in the cultural sector, such as virtual reality, augmented reality or digital storytelling platforms.
