Department of Health Tasmania – Hobart TASPosition OverviewThe Deputy Chief Psychiatrist is responsible for supporting the Chief Psychiatrist in achieving the objectives of the Mental Health Act 2013 (the Act), including fulfilling the statutory roles of the Chief Psychiatrist when required.Providing leadership and direction in the formulation of programs, policies and strategic activities to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian population.Through the Chief Psychiatrist, provide strategic advice to the Government, Minister and the Agency, and facilitate the effective coordination of mental health and suicide prevention issues by representing the Agency and participating in national, statewide, local or special mental health fora.The Team: Office of the Chief PsychiatristLead Mental health legislative reformCombine clinical practice with mental health leadershipPermanent role relocation and vehicle allowance availableDetails of AppointmentPermanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.* Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.Salary and AllowancesSalary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata.Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata.Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.Allowance in lieu of participating in private practice scheme 35% of base salary (if applicable).Other allowances as applicable.Essential CriteriaSpecialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.* Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
