Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary Objective:Provide strategic guidance and direction to the training and operations sections within the Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES) and coordinate hazard management planning and preparations to ensure an effective emergency response throughout the Northern Territory.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Provide strategic guidance and direction to the training and operations sections within the Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES).Coordinate hazard management planning and preparations to ensure an effective emergency response throughout the Northern Territory.Lead, manage, and provide strategic guidance across the NTES Commands.Provide expert emergency services advice to the NTFES Executives, Government agencies, and local authorities.Support the Chief Officer NTES in driving transformational change and business improvement initiatives aligned with the agency's direction.Identify organisational risks and engage with stakeholders to develop solutions and drive improvement.Ensure the delivery of complex projects with agency-wide implications.During emergency events, be the NTES Liaison Officer in the Emergency Operation Centre, providing high-level expert advice.Selection Criteria:Essential:Demonstrated high-level understanding of contemporary change management processes, with a proven ability to lead and drive organisational change initiatives within complex operational environments.Demonstrated high-level strategic, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide strategic advice and solutions during crisis situations.Proven ability to provide strategic leadership in an emergency/hazard management environment, with experience in delivering coordinated and effective responses.Demonstrated experience in managing large scale projects with significant outcomes, ensuring timely delivery and positive impact across the organisation.Strong skills in developing, implementing, and monitoring governance, reporting, and risk management frameworks to enhance accountability and minimise risks.High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and engage diverse audiences, including senior executives, government agencies, and community stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in emergency services operations, including active participation in emergency response and management, and enhancing community preparedness.Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply emergency management legislation, policies, and plans to ensure effective governance, compliance, and alignment with legal frameworks.Desirable:Tertiary qualifications relevant to that of a Senior Officer within the emergency service industry.Further Information:The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal history check and be subject to scrutiny against police intelligence holdings to confirm they have no significant criminal history record.
