Our purpose is to improve the physical, mental, cultural and social wellbeing of the Biluru people of the Yilli Rreung region through innovative, culturally safe and effective comprehensive primary health care programs and services.

The Opportunity and Expectations!We are now looking for a full-time Deputy Chief Executive Officer based in Darwin, Northern Territory. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is accountable for driving operational excellence, strategic leadership, and business development while ensuring the delivery of culturally sensitive and comprehensive primary health care to the Biluru communities. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing contemporary leadership across DDHS to align operations with strategic prioritiesSupporting the CEO and Board in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic and operational plansDriving new business opportunities and leading growth and sustainability through a Business Development StrategyAdvocating for policies to influence decision-making on Aboriginal health and wellbeingLeading the implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Safety Framework and Workforce StrategyStrengthening internal and external stakeholder relationships, representing DDHS in various forumsMonitoring and ensuring compliance with funding agreements and service performance targetsOverseeing the development of evaluation frameworks and fostering a culture of continuous improvementContributing to governance, risk management, and corporate compliance frameworksCollaborating with the Executive Management Team to manage organisational change effectivelyProviding high-level advice and reports to the CEO, Board, and other stakeholdersActing on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to advance organisational objectivesThis role offers a dynamic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in improving health and well-being outcomes for Aboriginal communities in the Yilli Rreung Region.
What we need from youTo qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in Management, Social Services, Business, Health, or a similar discipline. You must also be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. While not essential, a minimum of five years' experience in a senior management role will also be highly regarded.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Experience working in an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health OrganisationExperience in a clinical practice or community health education programKnowledge of State, Territory, and Federal Government funding arrangementsDemonstrated ability in strategic planning, business development, and advocacyHigh-level conceptual, analytical, and relationship management skillsAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong leadership capabilities, a commitment to fostering innovation and continuous improvement, and the ability to effectively manage change and inspire high performance. You will also bring exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, coupled with a deep understanding of our Aboriginal history, our people, culture, and aspirations.
This is a pivotal role where you can leverage your strategic insight and operational expertise to contribute to meaningful improvements in health outcomes for Aboriginal communities, aligning with our vision and purpose.

A Criminal History Check;Ability and preparedness to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card);Current driver's license (desirable);Current CPR Certificate or be willing to gain one within six months of commencement (desirable); andFull vaccination against COVID-19 including booster.This is an identified Aboriginal position; exemption is claimed under Section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.
