Job DescriptionAquila Mine are seeking multiple Deputies on a full-time, permanent basis with Anglo American. Your role as a Deputy is to be accountable for ensuring legislative compliance for all activities completed as per the site operations plan. This role sees you accountable for managing the safety, productivity, and reporting of all personnel and resources.
In this role you will provide effective leadership of the operational teams in accordance with the daily plan. The Deputy directs, controls and manages mine performance within the shift/day to ensure high standards of safety, quality and productivity are achieved.
Your key responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Manage and execute set daily shift plans to direct and guide crews on daily priorities and work requirements.Lead team meetings and ensure compliance with daily/weekly operational plans.Prioritise tasks and assign team members, equipment and resources.Make decisions and take actions to address shortfalls, respond to unplanned risks and events or mitigate unforeseen outcomes.Complete shift handovers with incoming & outgoing Deputies, listening to and sharing pertinent information to feed into daily plans, with a view to supporting continuity of safe, responsible production across all shifts.Manage the day-to-day activities in assigned District to ensure smooth operation.Take statutory responsibility for all roadways within the areas assigned District and complete the statutory inspection reports as required by CMSHR.Monitor all work activities in the areas of quality and safety, making sure that safety management tools and work instructions are understood and followed.Provide appropriate training and development for employees to strengthen the competency of individuals and improve the output of the crew.Comply with environmental and social requirements as relevant to your shift.Provide direct development coaching and appropriate feedback to individuals and teams.Participate in mine site productivity and process improvement programs, and more generally to find and raise improvement ideas in areas such as safety, production, cost and efficiency.Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all site interactions and take full ownership for safety on site.QualificationsTo be successful in the role you will have the following:
Extensive experience working within the underground coal mining industry with demonstrated understanding of the coal mining process and the relevant mining legislation.Queensland Deputy or (1st or 2nd) Certificate of Competency or NSW Deputy Certificate with Mutual Recognition.Current First Aid Certificate – Minimum Provide First Aid.Current RIIIS301 – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1).Current RIIOHS301 – Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (S2).Current RIICOM301 – Communicate Information (S3).Current RIIRIS402 – Carry out Risk Management Process (G2).Your proactive approach, proven management experience, demonstrated leadership ability to deliver exceptional results, strong interpersonal skills and commitment to Zero Harm will be the key to your success in the role.
