Natural Resource Management Officer & Senior Natural Resource Management Officer Are you passionate about water resource management and looking for an opportunity to make a real impact?

Join our dynamic team at the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation where you'll play a vital role in managing water resources and supporting sustainable practices across Western Australia.
We are currently seeking qualified and experienced professionals for the positions of Natural Resource Management Officers (NRMO) and Senior Natural Resource Management Officers (SNRMO) to join our Statewide Team.

We are looking to establish a pool of suitable, qualified and experienced individuals to fill current and future vacancies in our regionally-based teams in the Mid-West Gascoyne (Carnarvon or Geraldton), Swan Avon (Perth), Kwinana-Peel Region (Mandurah), South West (Bunbury or Busselton), North-west (Kununarra) and South Coast (Albany) regions.

The NRMO and SNRMO roles contribute to a range of core functions of the Department including Water Licensing, Planning Advice and Measurement.
Descriptions of these business areas are as follows:
Water Licensing
These teams undertake assessment of water licence and permit applications in accordance with the Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914 (RiWI Act) and the various plans, policies, procedures and guidelines that support the function.
This involves the assessment of water licence and permit applications, liaising with applicants/consultants, decision making authorities, licence compliance management, conducting site visits, reviewing, and monitoring hydrogeological reports and responding to general licensing enquiries.
Planning Advice
The Planning Advice function assesses statutory planning and development referrals and provides advice to decision-making agencies consistent with the Department's relevant policy, guidance or legislation.
Officers will coordinate these assessments across all relevant business areas of the Department, and effectively liaise with local governments, other state agencies, consultants and the community.
Measurement
The Measurement function delivers the operation and maintenance of regional hydrometric networks and water monitoring projects focusing on specialist surface water and groundwater measurement activities.
The role will consist of a high degree of field-based work in teams contributing to the collection, analysis, value adding and reporting of water information.
Liaise with the community, external agencies and internal groups in relation to their involvement in natural resource management functions.
