THE ROLE
The Manager supports the Director in delivering a wide range of initiatives which create strong, ongoing relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, to drive community-informed and led outcomes for Queenslanders. The role will support the department's commitment to deliver the Communities 2032 Strategy. The Manager will manage a team covering the functions of stakeholder engagement, capability, and investment.
The Manager will assist the department to achieve its vision through a performance-driven and customer-focused culture that delivers results, whilst displaying the core public sector values of customers first; ideas into action; unleash potential; be courageous; and empower people.

You will have a record of success as a manager in a complex organisation with outstanding leadership ability to deliver quality outcomes. Your ability to lead a team to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate strategy, provide advice for strategic investment and funding priorities, will be critical to success. You will support innovative approaches to ensuring quality investment and coordination strategies are in line with policy and programs that support Queensland communities to thrive. You will support the team in a high-paced environment and contribute to the broader leadership and change agenda of the division. You will have a proven track record of managing risks, issues, and people to build capability and an effective workforce.
WHAT YOU WILL DO The position requires strong personal accountability, engagement, and managerial and analytical capabilities. The role requires a proven ability to lead a team of people to work collaboratively across the directorate to deliver on the functional accountabilities of Community Services.
The Manager will provide support to the Director and will have leadership and management accountability for the work area/s under their control, including:
Ensure that strategies, investment, coordination, engagement and funding efforts are developed to achieve alignment to the Communities 2032 Strategy and the department's program outcomes. Managing the area work program through allocation, prioritisation, monitoring and performance of work tasks. Actively participate in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders within and across government and the broader human services networks. Providing authoritative, strategic, tactical and operational advice and analysis to the Director, and Executive Director on matters relevant to the work area. Prepare a range of written materials that support advice to government, including estimate briefs, briefing material, and information papers concerned with the initiatives delivered by the work area. Managing performance through provision of advice on strategic investment performance systems and measures, including the design of strategies to facilitate and enable government intent and priorities. Develop and deliver presentations on behalf of the department at cross government and industry forums and meetings as required. Facilitating team participation by planning, organising and managing the team's responsibilities, including fostering a professional environment to encourage commitment, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement. Ensuring active management of resources including financial, human and physical assets in accordance with statutory responsibilities, government priorities and departmental policies and procedures. Actively contributing to the management of the directorate as a member of the management team. Contributing to the building and maintenance of the culture of the unit to support the vision and values of the Department and to achieve agency objectives.
