Pivotal role to lead the strategic project team in Strategic Water Initiatives to deliver priority water projects and programs of work.

The Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Director to lead the Strategic Projects team in the Strategic Water Initiatives Branch.
This team drives strategic and coordinated delivery of priority water projects and programs often involving complex stakeholder management and partnerships.
The team's functions include assisting water service providers to source funding in risk areas and facilitate funding milestone payments.
Provide advice on state emergency policy priorities and manage water industry partnerships.
• Lead a team in the development of policy and program proposals driving strategic and coordinated responses and innovative solutions for priority water projects with complex stakeholder management.
• Prepare high quality policy papers, briefs, reports, including cabinet submissions and other significant policy and project management papers on departmental priorities and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain productive partnerships with a complex range of stakeholders, and leverage resourcing from internal and external partners, to ensure successful negotiation on strategic projects and initiatives.
• Provide strategic expert advice to the Executive Director, Strategic Water Initiatives, Deputy Director-General, Water Resource Management, Director-General and Minister on a range of departmental and whole-of-government strategic initiatives.
• Lead a high performing and financially sustainable workforce that demonstrates the values of the Public Service and the principles of the department.
• Ensure a culture of service delivery and high performance that recognises the unique contribution of each person, encourages personal and team development.
• Contribute to divisional business planning and resource prioritisation processes.
About You
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in natural resource management, environmental science and management or environmental law would be highly regarded.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills to represent the department at meetings and management committees.
• Travel away from the centre may be required.
